Sunday Feb 4 2001 Bamtex Natural 3 ply bamboo flooring in 6 foot lengths installed over building paper (the black stuff) and plywood subfloor. This is about 6 hours of work on the floor. Floor is nailed through the "tongue" section (blind nailed) except in the doorway itself and on the wall edge, which will be covered with moulding/transition strip

Feb 10, 2001 – Half done – notice the vent floored in behind Chris.  Up to about 12 hours of floor work at this point.  Moulding strips from original carpet now cover the edges of the floor (will be painted white in final installation).

Feb 11, 2001 – another 5 or so hours and we’re nearly done.  2nd doorway has floor going perpendiculat to it.  Bamboo flooring is 5/8ths inch thick which is slightly thicker than standard ceramic tile (whats in the hallway beyond both doors).  Will get a transition strip.

This picture shows the relative variation in color of the bamboo strips pretty well and the way I dealt with the ends of the strips – (pseudo random pattern).  I tried never to reuse the same length pattern (location of ends of boards within a wall-to-wall strip of flooring) within 4 strips of each other and avoided any consistent pattern in the lengths.  Some installers prefer to “stairstep” the ends of the boards.
